Comic Vine Community Star: MrUnknown / A.O.N

Anyone who dedicates an entire blog to reasons why Namor would make a terrible boyfriend deserves the title of Comic Vine Community Star. And I mean that seriously. Namor would make an absolutely horrible boyfriend. This week we would like to congratulate MrUnknown/A.O.N. on winning the award for all of his contributions to Comic Vine. The sheer number of blogs MrUnknown has written isn’t the only thing we took into consideration when we were looking over his accomplishments. Reading his blogs (and he has a lot of them!) you’ll notice that he puts a lot of work into his writing. What’s most impressive about MrUnknown’s blog posts are their their depth, context and thought provoking qualities; and it’s this very stuff that makes him such a valuable member of our community.

A regular theme of many of his blogs have been his “Clash Ups” where he takes two characters and compares them to one another. He breaks down what makes the respective characters interesting and compelling based on characteristics such as their costume, powers, personality and fun facts. MrUnknown often gets some input from other members of the community (like SC, who contributed to the M.O.D.O.K. versus Vegeta debate, for example). These debates not only demonstrate a sense of community and help enrich the relationships between members on the site, but it also creates a forum where people are welcome to debate and discuss in a friendly way; something we feel is very important to enriching the community experience!

Not all of MrUnknown’s blogs have revolved around debates over which character is more interesting; in his blog “The Awesome Pages,” MrUnknown relays one of his favorite moments in comics and throws the question out to members of the community. He doesn’t just post the panels from the comic (which happens to be Secret Warriors #4, if you’re wondering), he explains why the particular scene is so interesting to him, personally. In his blog he cites that it was that particular scene that really led him to appreciate Nick Fury’s character. In addition to spotlighting some of his favorite scenes, MrUnknown also spotlights some of his favorite characters. More recently he highlights Sharon Carter in a recent blog which not only delves into her origin story, but also explains what makes her such an interesting character — you can read the “Case File of Sharon Carter, here.

MrUnknown has also contributed to several wiki pages on Comic Vine including (but not limited to) Paul Dini’s creator page, Iron Man’s page (2,205 points), Cyclops’ page (325 points), Bullseye (165 points) and many more. He has also compiled an entire gallery titled ‘Iron Man By Design’ which is very cool; you can check it out here.

MrUnknown’s efforts have not only helped fill out our wiki pages on Comic Vine, but he (through the use of his blogs) has also contributed to enriching the community experience on the site by writing some very interesting (and sometimes very humorous) blogs that have generated some cool discussions. Be sure to let him know how much you appreciate his efforts by posting on his page! Congratulations, MrUnknown! You’ve earned it!
